We have converted our old garage into a home cinema room, not only to use for demonstration purposes, but to also show how an unused garage or outbuilding can be transformed into a fantastic space for family and friends to enjoy.

To deliver the stunning 4K picture and Dolby Atmos 5.2.4 sound we used the following equipment:

  • An Epsom EH-TW9400 projector was used to project images on an eight foot Grandview fixed frame screen, 16:9 ratio, which is acoustically transparent
  • Behind the screen, we installed 3 x SpeakerCraft profile aim cinema 1’s
  • The rear speakers were 2 x SpeakerCraft aim 1’s
  • 4 x SpeakerCraft aim 252 ceiling speakers
  • 2 x SpeakerCraft SDSi-8 sub-woofers completed the set
  • The speakers are driven by a Denon AVCX-4700H 9.2 AV receiver
  • A Sky puck, Apple TV and Sony Blu-ray player make up the source equipment used
  • All equipment and lighting is controlled via a Harmony elite remote control
  • Acoustic rockwool was used on the floor, walls and roof for insulation and soundproofing
  • On top of this was placed sheets of 18mm OSB
  • A coffer was built to frame the 3 x 2m fibre optic starlight ceiling, as well as housing the downlights and 4x ceiling speakers
  • Warm white LED tape was run on top of the skirting boards and vertical runs in the four corners of the room
  • Fabric track was screwed to the OSB and sound absorber panels, sound dispersal panels, front and rear speakers fitted prior to covering the walls with acoustically transparent material
